High Performing Teams – do you feel responsible?

I am currently reading an article called ‘World Class Teams’ by former All Black rugby captain, David Kirk. He unpacks the concept of teams and what makes successful teams truly successful.

This quote below rings true for me. High performing team members and their attitude toward team performance is crucial in the overall success and culture of the team and especially great teams.

As team members feeling responsible for your performance and the performance of others in the team is a mark of a special team that has the attributes of great leaders and team greatness.

This teamship feeling though I believe does not only end at the players and athletes. It extends to everyone in the team environment. We should be asking ourselves the following questions:

Do our coaches apply to this level of responsibility & ownership in the team performance and results?

And our Sport science staff?

And our managers?

And our administrators?

Suppose a ‘one for all, all for one’ type approach is what we looking at.
